Books, coffee, and cats… Could you imagine something more comforting and heartwarming?

Yes, this is a real thing! Quite a few kittens are playing and napping around your favorite books.

And do you want to know what’s the best thing about it? You can take one with you and give it a loving forever home.

Ellen Helmke, the bookstore owner, shared with Narcity that there are several kittens and “usually a mama cat as well” in the shop at any time. They are kindly provided by the South Paw Conservation Nova Scotia rescue group.

Luckily, people who visit Otis & Clementineโ€™s instantly fall in love with the little furry kittens. Ellen explained:

“All the kittens are in and out fairly quickly, as they are adopted.”

Well, adopting a cat from the bookstore isn’t just picking one up and taking it home with you. The whole process is managed by South Paw Conservation. The adoption fee is 255 Canadian dollars (or 194 US dollars), and it covers everything, including any medical expenses. In addition, future owners need to provide references before being able to take a kitty-cat from the store.

South Paw Conservation are loving their work with the book shop. They believe that it provides “an enriching environment for our kittens and cats”. The kitten adoption program in Otis & Clementineโ€™s started last year.

Amazingly, over 30 cats already found their forever homes!

Ellen is absolutely sure this number will rise. She told Global News:

“People come here specifically to see the cats, and then some people just wander in to look at books and discover there are kittens. Either way, the response has been really greatโ€”I mean, who doesnโ€™t love kittens, right?”

Moreover, the bookstore owner added that she is thrilled to see how happy her customers are, especially when they see a kitten they weren’t expecting.

What’s more, she shares they have the amazing 100% adoption rate!

So if you happen to be visiting Nova Scotia any time soon, you should definitely go to Otis & Clementineโ€™s Books and Coffee! You can enjoy an intriguing book, have a sweet cup of coffee, and adopt a sweet little kitty-cat. And if that’s not Heaven on Earth…
